About Us

What Can We Offer?

The Clackmannanshire Pipe Band was formed in August 2009 at its inaugural meeting held in Clackmannan Town Hall. We are a fully constituted organisation

The current committee office bearers are:

Chairperson Tam Douglas
Secretary Graham Winters
Treasurer Bobby Williamson
Pipe Major Charlie Lennox
Quartermaster Tam Douglas

The Band consists of a collaboration of pipers and drummers from across central Scotland and the former Alloa Collieries Pipe Band.

The Alloa Collieries Pipe Band was formed in the early 1950's under the auspices of the National Union of Mineworkers. The decline of the mining industry in what was once a thriving mining community has meant that the Band required to become self sufficient in its funding and latterly find itself a new identity.

As well as performing at many events throughout Scotland the Alloa Collieries Band enjoyed performing at music festivals in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria and Estonia and it is the intention of the Clackmannanshire Pipe Band Committee and its members to follow in this tradition.

The old County Town of Clackmannan is proud to be the home of the Clackmannanshire Pipe Band. Clackmannan is no stranger to Piping and had its own renowned Pipe Band for 67 years between 1912 and 1979. A current member of the band is the great grandson of a founder member of the 1912 band and is proud to be playing his great grandfathers original bagpipes.
